A somewhat flippant take on the issue:
Maybe the author of that quote is a Marxist. By being a corporate lawyer, one is helping to widen the economic gap between the proletariat and the owners of the means of production, thereby hastening the inevitable collapse of capitalism and eventually bringing about an egalitarian society.
